“You Wouldn’t Be Stopped If You Were White”- Pro-Trump Cops Arrest Black Vet Walking Dog
An Army vet’s simple walk with his dog quickly turned into a night of jail time under false arrest and the taunt of racist Trump supporters.
Najja Plowden, 35, was finishing his midnight walk in a Brooklyn park when two police officers in a cop van pulled him over and interrogated him about being in the park after hours, despite no signs saying the park was closed. The officers ignored the white man that was there playing with his dog.
He was arrested. While in custody Plowden was subject to racist pro-Trump taunts by white officer, Nicholas Loweth who told him “you wouldn’t have been stopped and detained if you’d been a white guy in a park at night on the Upper East Side,” and that the President-elect would support policing of minority neighborhoods and end food stamps.
Plowden filed a lawsuit last Friday.
Plowden’s job as an occupational therapist has been on hold while the Department of Education examines the lawsuit.
