A woman who brutally stabbed her father to death has claimed that Hollywood inspired her to do it. According to Crime Online, 27-year-old Christina Nicassio was distraught over her break up with her fiancé.

Nicassio’s parents grew worried for her well-being and attempted to put her in the car to take her to a hospital when she began behaving irrationally. About that time, the parents reportedly called the police saying that she was suicidal and was wielding a knife.

When her father tried to take the knife from her, Nicassio stabbed him twice in the chest. At 3:10 a.m., authorities arrived on the scene to find the father dead in the family’s home. He was pronounced dead at the scene and Christina was found responsible and was taken into custody.

During questioning, Nicassio said that it was a movie which inspired her to kill her father. “I don’t know why, I thought he had to die. I got played by Hollywood. In a movie, someone who can’t love someone else, they stab their father.” She said the movie that motivated the murder was The Mummy Returns.

Around 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Christina was taken from jail to Allegheny General Hospital after suffering a 4-inch laceration to the front of her head. She told jail staff she did it to herself because of what she had done to her father, the Pittsburgh Gazette records.

Club president, Jamie Holt, of the Allegheny Force Football Club where Christina coached part-time, said the news of was shocking to hear: “She seemed like a pretty nice person and kids loved her. It’s kind of shocking to us to wake up this morning and hear that.”

Holt said that all coaches are screened and that Christina wouldn’t have been hired had she not passed the screening. Christina played soccer for the University of Pittsburgh from 2007 to 2009. She was a “five-year participant in the Pennsylvania Olympic Development Program” and also a “four-time Student-Athlete Scholar Award winner.”

She also worked with her mother for Northwood Realty Services. Dr. Nicassio was an internist and primary care physician at Greater Pittsburgh Medical Associates-UPMC. The hospital released a statement following Dr. Nicassio’s death. “We are deeply saddened by the death of Dr. Nicassio, who was a dedicated and skilled physician and who devoted his life to compassionate care of his patients.”
