Grandparents Beaten To Death: Teen Girl And Boyfriend Arrested
Police in Georgia are investigating a teenage girl and her boyfriend in the brutal killings of Wendy and Randall Bjorge, the girl’s grandparents. According to the New York Daily News, Gwinnett County Police responded to an assault call in Lawrenceville, Ga., on Saturday night. They discovered the deceased bodies of two elderly people, the Bjorges.
The couple were allegedly beaten by Johnny Ryder, 19, the boyfriend of their granddaughter Cassandra Bjorge, 17. Detective D.C. Smith said, “Due to the injuries, warrants were obtained for Ryder.” Officers identified the Bjorges through a registered vehicle. They were 63 years old, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.
On Saturday, “Wendy and Randall [Bjorge] were found deceased in the upstairs area of their home,” said Smith, noting police had been to the house earlier in the week as part of a welfare check. “Their deaths are apparent homicides. The location of Cassandra Bjorge and Johnny Ryder were still unknown.”
However, thanks to detective work, authorities were then able to get information leading to the couple’s whereabouts Sunday morning. They were located and asked to exit an apartment they were holed up in. They refused to listen to authorities, at which point a SWAT team was called in.
When it made entry, Bjorge and Ryder were spotted with apparent self-inflicted wounds. They were transferred to a nearby hospital. They’re currently being investigated for the homicides, although no charges have been obtained and officials are investigating the exact manner of death.
