Female Soldier In Dog Killing Video Found Dead
An Army veteran charged with fatally shooting her therapy dog in an online video has been found dead in an apparent suicide. According to Crime Online, 23-year-old Marinna Rollins was found dead in her Fayetteville, North Carolina apartment at about 3 a.m. on Sunday.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that Rollins’ death is being investigated as a suicide. The cause of death is not yet known. Rollins and her boyfriend Jarren Heng were arrested last month after a video surfaced showing a woman believed to be Rollins shooting her own therapy dog to death.
Rollins had been caring for her estranged husband’s pitbull while he was deployed overseas, and during that time had the dog registered as an emotional service animal, providing support as she reportedly suffered from PTSD.
The video, which police found on Facebook, shows the woman shooting the dog, who is tied to a tree, multiple times and then laughing with the man believed to be Heng as the dog spasms. Her estranged husband Matt Dyer previously said that the dog had never been aggressive to Marinna.
Rollins had reportedly been medically retired from the army in January due to PTSD and other mental health issues. At the time of her death, she was out on $25,000 bail and was expected in court on May 16.
