“Exterminate All N*ggers” – Police Guard High School After Student’s Racist Threats
A Georgia high school is under police protection after a student posted violent racist threats against African Americans on social media. The officers had to be called in for a second day at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw.
When the threats first became public on Friday, over 300 students did not show up. This double increase in truancy was directly linked to the social media post, according to school authorities and police.
The racist student posted his comment on Snapchat, saying that he could have “personally assassinated President Abraham Lincoln for freeing African-Americans from slavery.” He went on to say that he would “exterminate all n*ggers” if he had a chance. Given the extreme tension at the school following the threats, parents said the student in question should not only be expulsed, but criminally charged for hate speech.
School officials have been reluctant to talk to the media about the incident. In an e-mail to parents, Principal Bucky Horton said, “We are aware of the inappropriate social media posting. We are investigating the matter. “All is well and we are moving forward with our school day.”
After being criticized for not taking the incident seriously enough, the school sent out another message saying that the message was “deplorable and we denounce everything about it.” School officials also confirmed that local authorities were investigating the writer of the post.
