Chicago South Side: 3-Year-Old Boy Shot In Head
According to Chicago police, a 3-year-old boy was shot in the head on the city’s crime-infested South Side Thursday afternoon. The shooting reportedly occurred at a residence in the Englewood neighborhood.
Authorities say the shots appeared to have been fired by accident. The little boy known as Bam Bam in the neighborhood was home with three other young siblings when the tragedy took place. The parents were not present at the home.
Whether or not the boy or one of the siblings pulled the trigger, has not been identified. Police did say that it seemed the children had played with the gun. The young victim was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
CPD Commander Kenneth Johnson told reporters, “First and foremost a child has been injured. It’s a tragic situation, not only for the family, for the child, but for our entire community and city. So we have to do everything we can to ensure instances like this do not repeat themselves.”
